the stresses of working in retail!

i think this picture really sums up how i feel right now!

hello my lovely readers! so recently i have started a part time job in a well know shop, so i can earn some pennies before christmas. i used to work in retail before in "woolworths" and "greggs"

i really enjoy my job BUT along with all jobs there comes the "stress" in my case its the customers that stress me out.

dear customers:

  • saying please and thank you to me isnt hard! 


  • making a phone call whilst i am serving and talking to you is also very rude!
  • throwing your "money" and "items" at me is also very rude!
  • tapping your fingers and sighing will not make me work faster and is also very rude!
  • when i ask you a question its nice if you speak to be instead of shaking or nodding your head
  • when i say hello or goodbye its nice if you say it back
  • please dont stick your card in the machine until i finish scanning your items
  • why put your stuff on the till that im not working on? then sigh when i ask you to come round?
  • allot of the time my till runs out of £5 notes, so trying to give me extra change to make sure you get a £5 in change really dosnt help me
  • 3 for 2 means buy 2 items and get a 3rd free. you will always get the cheapest free!!!!!
  • buy 1 get 1 half price does not mean buy one get one free!
  • i cant change your money for you as the till only opens after a transaction
  • no i dont work on commission, its my job to offer you the bargains on my till
  • i cant help that my till is slow
  • i have to enter all discounts manually on the till so im sorry if it takes some time
next time your in a shop, remember the person who is serving you is also human, so its nice to be polite :)
